Private Yacht Charter, Amalfi Coast and Capri

A crewed day charter from Positano along the Amalfi coastline and across to Capri, on a classic Italian gozzo or a Riva-style open cruiser. The skipper sets the route by the morning sea state: grottoes and swim stops on a calm day, sheltered Sorrentine coves when the maestrale blows. Lunch is either cooked aboard or at a table we hold ashore in Nerano.

The stops on a classic Amalfi and Capri day

A full day covers four or five of these. Your skipper confirms the order on the morning, based on sea and light.

  1. 01

    Positano to Praiano coastline

The vertical village seen from the water, then the Fiordo di Furore fjord and the Emerald Grotto at Conca dei Marini.

  2. 02

    Li Galli islands

Rudolf Nureyev's former private archipelago, and the best mid-morning swim stop on the coast.

  3. 03

    Capri's Faraglioni

Passing under the arch of the middle stack, the traditional good-luck kiss included.

  4. 04

    Blue Grotto and White Grotto

Entry by rowing boat when the swell allows; the White and Green grottoes are the reliable alternatives.

  5. 05

    Marina del Cantone, Nerano

Lunch ashore for spaghetti alla Nerano at a family trattoria, or served on deck at anchor.

How it works

  1. 1

    Board in Positano

Meet the crew at the private dock at around 9:30am; tender pickup from the beach if the swell is up.

  2. 2

    Coastal cruising

Grottoes, the Li Galli swim stop and the crossing to Capri, with the route set to the sea state.

  3. 3

    Lunch and anchoring

Two hours at Nerano or at anchor off Capri, with swimming and paddleboarding.

  4. 4

    Golden-hour return

Aperitivo on deck as the cliffs turn amber, back at the dock by 5:30pm.

When to go

May to early October. July and August are hottest and busiest; late May, June and September have the calmest seas and best prices.

Frequently asked questions

Is lunch included in the charter price?+

An on-board aperitivo and soft drinks are included. A restaurant lunch ashore is reserved for you and billed on the day; a cooked on-board lunch can be added for a fixed supplement.

How many guests can the boat take?+

A classic gozzo takes up to eight, a 14-metre cruiser up to twelve. Larger motor yachts for sixteen or more are quoted individually.

Can we visit the Blue Grotto?+

Only when the swell allows and the rowing-boat operators are running, which is roughly two days in three from May to September. Entry tickets are paid at the grotto.

What if the sea is rough?+

The skipper reroutes to the sheltered Sorrentine side. If the port authority closes the harbour, we reschedule or refund in full.

Is it suitable for children and non-swimmers?+

Yes. Child life jackets are aboard and the swim stops are optional. There is shade and a marine toilet on every boat we use.

Can we start from Capri, Amalfi or Sorrento instead?+

Yes — any of those, and Salerno or Naples with a repositioning fee.

Is the skipper English-speaking?+

Yes, on every charter. Hindi-speaking hosts can be arranged in July and August with notice.

How far ahead should we book?+

Four to six weeks in high season. August weekends on the better boats go three months out.
