Amman · Petra · Wadi Rum · 7 nights
Seven nights from Amman to Wadi Rum, paced around the days that matter.
Seven nights across three stops: Amman for three nights, Petra for two and Wadi Rum for two. Every transfer between them is private and timed around the day's plan.
The days are built around Citadel, Theatre and Downtown; The Siq and the Treasury; Desert by 4x4 and Camel; and Jerash and the North. Each one is set out below with what you will see, how you get there and which meals are included.
The defining moment of this route: petra by Night, the Siq and Treasury lit by candles. Your travel specialist can add a night, swap a day or change the order before you book.
Day by day
Arrive at Queen Alia International, about 45 minutes by road into the city and transfer privately to your base. Time today to walk downtown to the Roman theatre and up to Rainbow Street.
The Amman Citadel with the Temple of Hercules and Umayyad palace, the Roman theatre below, the Jordan Museum's Dead Sea Scrolls, and downtown's food.
Forty-five minutes north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman provincial cities anywhere, with its oval forum and colonnaded street, plus Ajloun castle.
Drive south from Amman, ideally along the King's Highway. On arrival, settle in Wadi Musa and rest before an early start at the gate.
Through the 1.2-kilometre Siq at opening to Al-Khazneh, then the Street of Facades, the theatre and the Royal Tombs, walked slowly with a guide.
Drive south from Petra and change to 4x4 at the village. On arrival, transfer by 4x4 into the protected area and reach camp for sunset.
Lawrence's Spring, the Khazali canyon's Nabataean and Thamudic inscriptions, the natural arch at Umm Fruth and the red dunes, closing with sunset from a ridge.
A sunrise over the sandstone before the drive out. Private transfer to Aqaba's King Hussein airport, about an hour away, or Amman, about four hours north, in good time for your onward flight.
A visa is needed, and the Jordan Pass, bought online before travel, can include the visa fee as well as entry to Petra for stays of three nights or more.
A lot. The walk from the visitor centre through the Siq to the Treasury is about 2 km, and the Monastery adds around 800 steps. Comfortable shoes are essential.
Usually on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, weather permitting. We plan your nights in Petra around it.
Three to four months ahead gives the widest choice of rooms and guided days, and more for school holidays, festivals and peak season. Shorter notice is often possible; ask and we will check live availability.
Yes. Every journey is a starting point: add or remove nights, swap a day's plan, change hotels or reorder the route, and your travel specialist re-plans the whole trip around it.
Your quote sets out the deposit that confirms the booking and the date the balance is due. Both depend on the hotels, airlines and guides involved, so they are agreed with you before you pay anything.
