Common Questions

Overwater villa or beach villa?+

Overwater villas offer the lagoon at your doorstep and sunset decks, and suit couples. Beach villas give shade, garden pools and easy sand access for children. Many couples split their stay between the two.

Is the Maldives good for families?+

Yes. Many resorts have kids' clubs, family villas with two bedrooms, shallow lagoons and gentle house reefs. We suggest beach villas for young children.

Do non-swimmers enjoy the Maldives?+

Yes. Shallow lagoons, glass-bottom boats, submarine trips at some resorts, sunset cruises and spas mean there is plenty to do without swimming far.

What does a Maldives holiday really cost?+

Rooms are only part of it. Transfers (especially seaplanes), meal plans, 10% service charge, 17% tourism tax and the green tax all add up. Our quotes include them so there are no surprises.

Is vegetarian and Jain food available?+

Yes. Resorts are used to Indian guests, and most have Indian chefs. We send your dietary needs ahead so the kitchen is prepared.

How far in advance should we book?+

Three to four months ahead gives the widest choice of rooms and guided days, and more for school holidays, festivals and peak season. Shorter notice is often possible; ask and we will check live availability.
