Rome to Tuscan Vintages

Rome · Tuscany · 9 nights

Nine nights from Rome to Tuscany, paced around the days that matter.

The Journey

Nine nights across two stops: Rome for five nights and Tuscany for four. Every transfer between them is private and timed around the day's plan.

The days are built around Ancient Rome: Colosseum and Forum, Florence on Foot, Vatican Museums and St Peter's and Baroque Rome and Trastevere. Each one is set out below with what you will see, how you get there and which meals are included.

The defining moment of this route: private cellar tasting with a fifth-generation winemaker. Your travel specialist can add a night, swap a day or change the order before you book.

Common Questions

When is the best time for Tuscany's wine country?+

April to June and September to October. September and early October bring the grape harvest, warm days and quieter roads; July and August are hot and Rome is at its busiest.

Do we need to book the Vatican and Colosseum in advance?+

Yes. Both sell timed entries that run out weeks ahead in season. We reserve them with your guide when the trip is confirmed.

Who drives between the wineries?+

A private driver. Tastings are part of every Chianti and Val d'Orcia day, so nobody in your group needs to drive.

How far in advance should we book?+

Three to four months ahead gives the widest choice of rooms and guided days, and more for school holidays, festivals and peak season. Shorter notice is often possible; ask and we will check live availability.

Can the itinerary be customised?+

Yes. Every journey is a starting point: add or remove nights, swap a day's plan, change hotels or reorder the route, and your travel specialist re-plans the whole trip around it.

What is the payment schedule?+

Your quote sets out the deposit that confirms the booking and the date the balance is due. Both depend on the hotels, airlines and guides involved, so they are agreed with you before you pay anything.
