Bergen · Geiranger · Ålesund · Flåm · 8 nights
Eight nights on board and ashore, round trip from Bergen.
Eight nights by ship, with days ashore at Bergen, Flåm, Olden, Geiranger, Ålesund, Åndalsnes, Stavanger and Eidfjord. Shore days are planned with private guides where shown, and you can always stay on board instead.
The days are built around Flåm, Olden, Geiranger and Ålesund. Each one is set out below with what you will see, how you get there and which meals are included.
The defining moment of this route: fjord-facing suite for the Geiranger sail-in. Your travel specialist can add a night, swap a day or change the order before you book.
Day by day
Walk the wooden Hanseatic wharf of Bryggen and ride the funicular up Mount Fløyen, then board in the late afternoon.
Dock at the head of the Aurlandsfjord and ride the Flåm Railway up to Myrdal, climbing 863 metres in 20 kilometres, with a stop at the Kjosfossen waterfall. The Stegastein viewpoint is an alternative.
Up the valley to the Briksdal arm of Jostedalsbreen, mainland Europe's largest glacier, or ride the Loen Skylift to Mount Hoven above the Nordfjord.
An early sail-in along the Geirangerfjord past the Seven Sisters waterfalls and the abandoned cliff farms, then the Flydalsjuvet ledge and, in summer, the Eagle Road hairpins.
A town rebuilt in art nouveau after the fire of 1904, and the 418 steps up Mount Aksla for the view over the islands.
The Romsdal Gondola up to Nesaksla, the Rauma Railway along the river, or the Trollstigen road when it is open in summer.
A boat into the Lysefjord beneath Preikestolen, or the hike to the top, about four hours return, then the white wooden houses of old Stavanger.
Deep in the Hardangerfjord, a drive up to the Vøringsfossen waterfall and the edge of the Hardangervidda plateau. Farewell dinner on board.
Breakfast on board, then a private transfer to Bergen Flesland airport, about 30 minutes.
Mainly May to September, when the days are long and the waterfalls are full from snowmelt. Midsummer has near round-the-clock daylight in the north.
Yes. Norway is in the Schengen area, so a Schengen visa covers this voyage.
Rarely inside the fjords, which are sheltered and calm. Short open-sea stretches between ports can be livelier, so pack motion-sickness tablets if you are sensitive.
Three to four months ahead gives the widest choice of rooms and guided days, and more for school holidays, festivals and peak season. Shorter notice is often possible; ask and we will check live availability.
Yes. Every journey is a starting point: add or remove nights, swap a day's plan, change hotels or reorder the route, and your travel specialist re-plans the whole trip around it.
Your quote sets out the deposit that confirms the booking and the date the balance is due. Both depend on the hotels, airlines and guides involved, so they are agreed with you before you pay anything.
